Huawei Watch Fit 3 test, very very inspired and yet…

With a design very strongly inspired by a competitor, Huawei has just announced the third iteration of its mid-range connected watch. If the design can be confusing, especially among fans of the Apple brand, it should be remembered that square watches existed before connected watches and there will be them after.

In any case, the strength of this new Huawei Watch Fit 3 is above all its positioning with a very aggressive price of 159 euroscompatibility with Android of course but also iOS and almost everything that is done in terms of monitoring these days on connected watches.

Design and technical characteristics

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is a connected watch and takes the design of a watch, we are not going to dwell too much on it except for the fact that Huawei was very strongly inspired by the Apple Watch. We're not going to lie, it's almost a direct copy of what the Cupertino company offers. It is true that Huawei could have made an effort to differentiate itself a little, BUT… Yes, there is a but!

As we said above, this is not the first time that we have a square watch and it will not be the last. But where we were impressed were the comments from people who came across our Fit 3: “It looks like the Apple Watch but prettier”, “It’s thinner than the Apple Watch, it’s more nice” or “The screen is flat, it’s better and it’s less massive”. Yes, if the inspiration is very strong on the Apple side, we must recognize that these small changes allow the Watch Fit 3 to be pleasant on the wrist and on a daily basis.

We also thank the weight of only 26g. And somehow, it's really a shame this resemblance with what Apple offers because the comparison with the watchword “copy” will not do justice to the product which is really good, especially with such a price.

On the technical side

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 thus offers a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen (480×408, 347ppp) in 1.18:1 format. With an impressive brightness of up to 1500 nits, we had no particular problems during very sunny days, which we had during our weeks of testing in Southeast Asia with the heatwave and very sunny days. sunny. The screen itself occupies almost 78% of the surface, which makes it pleasant for reading information on a daily basis.

Besides, everything runs under Harmony OS 4.2.0 and we obviously find GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo/QZSS, 5ATM water resistance, a crown (for the main menu and used as a return button ), an option button (customizable as desired), TruSeen, TruSleep and TruSport technologies, as well as a 400mAh battery ensuring, according to the manufacturer, no less than 10 days of autonomy. In our daily tests over 4 weeks, we recharged it exactly 4 times. Allow a little over an hour per charge.

In the box, no surprise, we find the watch, a charging cable and manuals for a first start. If the cable remains proprietary via a magnetic system on the back of the watch, we would have liked Huawei to offer USB-C and not USB-A, we are still in 2024. Afterwards, for a price of 159 euros, we don't want too much from the Chinese manufacturer. Note that only a WiFi version exists and that Huawei offers 5 colors. Obviously, Huawei offers a multitude of different optional bracelets, and even leather bracelets.

With Bluetooth 5.2, you can use the Huawei Watch Fit 3 as a hands-free kit. If the sound is decent, on one side or the other, we can only advise you to use this function when you have no other choice. Note that the haptic engine is rather impressive with discreet vibrations which are very present.

On the Health side

As we said above, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 runs Harmony OS 4.2.0 and synchronizes with the smartphone via the Huawei Health application, available on iOS and Android. It is this application which will make the link after the native applications from Apple and Google.

And unsurprisingly, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 offers all the tracking you would expect from a connected watch. We thus find the technologies which were already present on the previous products of the Chinese manufacturer. We are therefore entitled to TruSeen technology which, with the help of AI, makes it possible to better establish the link between cardiovascular monitoring and physical performance. TruSleep technology allows better sleep monitoring by adding your electrocardiogram, SpO2 or blood pressure. And finally, TruSport technology has more than 100 sports recognized for tracking, indoor or outdoor. In addition to that, we even find training plans. Practical.

Available since last week, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 is available at the price of 159 euros and this, in 5 different colors.
