With the ROG Ally X, Asus corrects its biggest flaw

If gamers were waiting for an even more efficient version of the ROG Ally, here they are. The brand of accessories and computer components for gamers has chosen to lift the veil on its next PC console. After the success of the ROG Ally, the company will focus not on a sequel, but rather on a second iteration of the existing model. The ROG Ally X is a similar machine, but a little more powerful, with new features.

New look for new ergonomics

To mark its novelty, the ROG Ally Inside we find an AMD Z1 Extreme processor identical to the classic ROG Ally and a 7-inch VRR screen with a refresh rate of 48-120 Hz. Moreover, some modifications have been made for optimization purposes or ergonomics.

This includes a longer M.2 2280 SSD slot for simpler upgrades and larger SSD purchases. Asus is also considering redesigning the joystick modules for improved interchangeability and rearranging the motherboard layout to move the SD card reader away from the system vents. Asus also highlights a bunch of other modifications, such as revisited handles, minor adjustments to the D-pad, joysticks and even triggers. Some of these new features will be visible, others not, but they will nevertheless improve user comfort.

A huge defect corrected?

For greater performance, Asus substantially increases the size of its battery. This brings a notable improvement in autonomy in its lifespan and capacity. In this way, the brand wishes to prove that it is failing its users, because these are the biggest black spots of the first machine. This increase therefore responds to community requests, aiming to double the autonomy compared to the current worst situation, around three hours. This new feature also helps the PC console gain weight.

Finally, the ROG Ally RAM memory of more than 16 GB for optimized allocation between GPU and other systems. This is the only information the brand has given us today, even though we do not yet have an official visual. Asus plans to make an announcement with great fanfare next June 2, at the time of the famous Computex. It is therefore advisable to note the appointment and keep your eyes peeled until then.
