The Batman: The Animated Series reboot finally has a release date!

What if Hollywood had finally found the winning recipe? Many licenses have gone through the nostalgic laundry in recent years, but few have managed to stand out among spectators. Marvel has, however, achieved a tour de force with the rebirth of its iconic animated series X-Men. Under the leadership of Beau De Mayo, Professor Xavier's students returned to the forefront and have lost none of their splendor. DC has a similar project in its drawers, and it's about to come to life. Announced several years ago, the rereading of Batman: The Animated Series finally has a release date. Prime Video has indeed just confirmed that the meeting with Gotham's vigilante would take place this summer. Of the next August 1stworshipers of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego in cape and tights will be able to discover the ten episodes what does this first salvo of Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves — who is producing Caped Crusader — took advantage of this opportunity to share first images featuring the recurring characters. As one could imagine, aesthetics of the 90s animated series will be at the epicenter of the process. Rather than giving in to the sirens of modernity, this suite embraces the “black roots of Batman” according to the director of the film worn by Robert Pattinson. The appearance of the protagonists is thus similar to that of the production which made the heyday of France 3 and Canal+ in the 90s. It will therefore be a question of presenting the Dark Knight as an investigator in a gang-ridden city by crime. As The Batman paid homage to film noir, this new animated series aims to be darker than recent attempts in the genre.

What is it about ?

With help from the creator of the original series, this reimagining will invite viewers to follow Batman through a city where the corrupt outnumber the good, honest people. Criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in fear. Forged by tragedythe rich Bruce Wayne then becomes the symbol of hope for Gotham. He is Batman, a shadow among shadows. He will join forces with members of the GCPD and town hall to fight crime. But his heroic actions will have serious consequences, which could be fatal…

Faced with Bruce Wayne, the public will be able to count on Selina Kyle/Catwoman as well as the Commissioner Jim Gordon. If the participation of Joker hasn't been made official, Batman is expected to meet some of his iconic glossy foes. Harley Quinn And Clayface will be the guests of this first season. Note that the project, abandoned by HBO Max and taken over by Amazon, is already promised a second season. We must now hope that the participation of one of the original creators, as well as the promise of a clever nostalgic recipe, will give rise to a new ambitious animated production.
