One Piece season 2: a new actor joins the adventure
A year after the release of season 1, One Piece is preparing its big comeback on our screens. Netflix does not want to let things drag on and will do everything it can to strike while the iron is hot. To everyone's surprise, its adaptation of Luffy's adventures was a critical and commercial success. The announcement of a second batch of episodes was not long in coming, and everyone is now busy developing it. Filming began last June, suggesting for a release by 2025. Variety has just announced that a new actor has joined the adventure.
Neferti Cobra will make its entrance
According to information from the American media, Sendhil Ramamurthy will star alongside Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Sklylar. A leading personality in the series Heroes and its reboot, the actor recently appeared in the cast of another Netflix series, this time in the teen comedy section. After My First Timeshe continues his collaboration with the red N and takes over an emblematic character from the One Piece universe. He will be Nefertari Cobra.
First appeared in Chapter 142: Episode 91the character was played by Jean-Marc Delhausse in the French version of the anime. He is the twelfth king of Alabasta. and father of a young girl. Presented as a just and loyal man, who should help the Straw Hat crew in their quest for the One Piece. Note that Sendhil Ramamurthy is far from being the only actor to invite himself in this season 2, several names have already been announced. Katey Sagal (Dr. Kureha), Mark Harelik (Dr. Hiriluk), Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, David Dastmalchian, Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, Clive Russell, Callum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti and Ty Keogh will also be on the trip.
Behind the scenes, Joe Tracz and Matt Owens are back in action. The creators are also reuniting with their production team, starting with Eiichirō Oda, author of the manga from which the series draws its inspiration. Netflix and Tomorrow Studios are signing this co-production.
The Alabasta arc finally on the program
The presence of Neferti Cobra confirms that the Season 2 will also discuss the Alabasta arc (before devoting himself fully to it in a season 3). It is one of the most popular with readers, but the creators had cultivated the mystery as to its exploitation in this second batch of episodes.

In a letter to his fans, Eiichirō Oda promised that the arc Baroque Works would be at the epicenter of the narrative. Our heroes will thus have their work cut out for them. The father of One Piece promises that this season will surprise viewers in many ways. “Just like the first season, the teams worked hard to create a season that I would like”. He also mentioned Chopper, without saying much more about the series' approach to the iconic character. We can expect Netflix to continue promoting this new series in the coming months.
