Nintendo Switch 2: what games will be released on the console?

This morning, Nintendo made the existence of the Nintendo Switch 2 official without pressure. The console that the studio still calls “the successor to the Nintendo Switch” should be fully revealed by March 2025 at the latest. And yet, many are preparing for its release, players and developers alike.

Because no, a console is not much without associated and strong games to mark its launch. For the Nintendo Switch, we were treated to the remaster of Mario Kart 8 Deluxebut also to Zelda Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey. And while the big day is fast approaching, the developers have surely already been working for several months – even years – to bring a list of titles worthy of the name to the next machine. What games are already planned for Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo Switch 2: release date postponed? Find out all about the latest rumors

As of yet, absolutely nothing has been confirmed. But rumors keep coming on this subject. As soon as the Nintendo Switch 2 was made official, a leaker confirmed that 3 Pokémon projects have been validated for the Nintendo Switch 2. It is not yet known what nature they will be, but some claim that The Pokémon Company will soon introduce the tenth generation of its little monsters. In the lot, we could also find Pokémon Legends: ZA which plans to be released in 2025.

The fans are getting impatient

Moreover, very little information is available on the internet regarding Nintendo Switch 2 games. Obviously, fans are waiting a new opus Mario Kartas well as Following Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. All this is still possible, but nothing has been revealed in this direction. On the other hand, we are impatiently awaiting the next opus of the saga Professor Layton baptized the New Steam World.

The first trailer shared by Level5 did not have the Nintendo Switch icon, which caused panic on the web. Indeed, for many this meant that the game was already planned for the next Nintendo console. Unfortunately, this theory fell through with the following trailer which made mention of the current machine. However, it is likely that Professor Layton and the New World on Steam released on Nintendo Switch 2 since it is expected in 2025 at the earliest.

More games with backwards compatibility?

With backwards compatibility, Nintendo could just as easily have a huge list of games to offer to its loyal players as soon as the Nintendo Switch 2 is released. However, it has not yet been proven that this backwards compatibility is in the plans of the manufacturer which has so far focused on different cartridges for each generation of console, and no digital backward compatibility. However, as the practice becomes more widespread and at a time when game preservation movements are growing, the studio may have no choice but to give in to the trend, just like PlayStation and Xbox.
