The Walking Dead: Reunion time for Carol and Daryl

If The Walking Dead has bowed out, the zombie universe is far from dead. AMC continues to explore the license imagined by Robert Kirkman on glossy paper, exploiting the success of Frank Daranbont's creation as much as possible. After Fear The Walking Dead And World Beyond — conceived as real spin-offs — these are series that look like season 12 that regularly appear on our screens. The characters most appreciated by the public are back, the story evolves only a short time after the grand finale. Dead City was dedicated to reuniting enemies Negan and Maggie, while The Ones Who Live told what happens to Rick after his disappearance and kidnapping by the CRM. The most original proposal, however, remains Daryl Dixon, who transports the hero into a European context.

Airing in 2023, the creation of Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple revolved around the mystery journey of Daryl Dixon in France. Landed in Marseille, without knowing what led him here, the TWD veteran had to evolve in a France, also under the yoke of the living dead, but also of a military organization ready to do anything to discover a cure for the virus. It had ended with a Cornelian choice for the character: stay in France and help the community that welcomes him or abandon them to find his people on the other side of the Atlantic. It would seem that despite his choice to postpone his crossing, Daryl will very soon have a visit from a heroine from his past. Season 2, also called The Book of Carolwill bring together the characters who have been in contact with each other since the beginning of the health crisis. If the circumstances of Carol's trip remain a mystery, a new excerpt confirms that she will indeed set foot on French soil.

After a well-deserved break

In 2022, while the series was promised to launch a year later, Melissa McBride announced that she would not be returning to the role of Carol. While Norman Reedus did not hesitate for a single second, the American was aiming to enjoy a period of rest. It must be said that she has been lending her features to Carol Peletier for over a decade. If season 1 had to be done without her, AMC and the creators clearly knew how to find the words to convince her to return. She will indeed be on the bill for this season 2 and even the next one. Alongside Reedus and McBride, the audience will be able to find Clémence Poésy (Isabelle), Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (Laurent) and Anne Charrier in the role of Genêt. Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney will also be on the trip.

Already a season 3 in the pipeline

AMC took advantage of the San Diego Comic-Con to announce that a third season was on the program for 2025. This time, however, it is not France that Carol and Daryl will explore. In order to return home, the characters will have to go to Spain. For AMC, it will therefore be a question of finding a gallery of new collaborators. Since its beginnings, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has at heart working with local artistswhether it's for writing, directing or even costumes. AMC will therefore have to recruit a whole range of new collaborators, for more plausibility.

Waiting for, Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol come back September 30th on Paramount+. The series will offer one episode per week until the conclusion five weeks after this launch. Note that the first season is still available via the platform.
