Microsoft launches (again) a new formula for Xbox Game Pass

Launched in 2016, Xbox Game Pass has clearly become a must-have for Xbox and PC gamers today. This subscription service (without commitment) allows you to access hundreds of games at a low price, including the latest big Xbox Games Studio releases. Unfortunately, over the years, the service has continued to see its price increase. Today, Game Pass is offered in three different formulas and a fourth is about to arrive in order to offer more choice and more or less high prices.

As announced at the end of August, Microsoft has just confirmed the upcoming arrival of a new intermediate offer for its Game Pass allowing you to have a subscription at 12.99 euros per monthoffering more options than the Game Pass Core at 6.99 euros and a more affordable price than the Game Pass Ultimate at 17.99 eurosThis “standard” offer therefore provides access to advantages, but no longer offers the main interest of the service: that of having Xbox Games Studios games from the day of their release at no additional cost.

Game Pass is now divided into four offerings:

  • The PC Game Pass (11.99 euros per month)

    – An offer for PC gamers only
    – Allows you to play Xbox Games Studio Day One games, as soon as they are released
    – A vast catalog of games (approx. 200 games)
    – Access to an EA Play subscription.
    – Access to benefits for Riot Games games
    – Exclusive promotions

  • Game Pass Core (€6.99 per month)

    – An offer for console players only
    – Access to more than 25 games
    – Access to online multiplayer
    – Exclusive offers

  • The Standard Game Pass (12.99 euros per month)

    – An offer for console players only
    – Access to hundreds of console games (approx. 400)
    – Access to online multiplayer
    – Exclusive promotions

  • The Game Pass Ultimate (17.99 euros per month)

    – An offer for console, PC and Cloud players
    – Immediate access to new games the day they are released
    – Access to a catalog of more than 600 games (PC / Consoles)
    – An EA Play subscription
    – As well as exclusive promotions and other benefits

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate therefore retains its status as an offer par excellence. But it is not certain that it is the best option for Microsoft to remove the “Day One” games knowing that it was of the best selling point. The standard offer will nevertheless allow many players to access more than 400 relatively recent games. We can only hope that this new formula does not suffer price increases in the coming weeks and months.
